Sculptra

As our faces lose volume with age, it’s common for skin to develop a lax quality that contributes to the formation of wrinkles. This is largely due to the decline in natural collagen production that’s responsible for providing a firmer framework that better supports the overlying skin. With dermal fillers like Sculptra Aesthetic, BotoxRN patients can restore lost volume, smoothing away deep lines and wrinkles and even filling in existing scars. Sculptra can also be used on sunken cheeks and is commonly used for butt lifts. Replacing lost collagen, it is an injectable filler that gives you results over a longer term period, in a natural manner that produces a subtle change in appearance.

Sculptra is FDA approved in the United States, and a safe, synthetic, biocompatible material that is used to correct depressions and surface irregularities in the skin. Skin creases, wrinkles, depressions, and folds can all be treated and improved with Sculptra. Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which is a well-known material that has been used in medical products for more than 20 years. It is commonly used as a component of dissolvable sutures and surgical implants. Sculptra is biodegradable, meaning that it is gradually broken down and naturally removed from the body.

This is one key difference with Sculptra compared to many other dermal fillers since these other fillers are often based on hyaluronic acid and not poly-L-lactic acid. Many individuals find that they prefer to under take a non-invasive cosmetic procedure such as Sculptra when compared to more invasive, and costly plastic surgery. The cost of Sculptra means that it is much cheaper to use this procedure than visit a plastic surgeon.

How Sculptra Works

Sculptra is injected below the surface of the skin into the areas that are undergoing treatment. Over the next few weeks, Sculptra stimulates the production of your own collagen. It is this new collagen that ultimately produces the improvement in the appearance of the skin. Generally, two or three treatment sessions every four to six weeks are required to obtain the optimum result. Most patients can resume their normal activities immediately after leaving the office. Makeup may be applied a few hours after the treatment. Due to the way Sculptra works, you will not get immediate results. However most people achieve full results within around 60 days of the first treatment.

Sculptra is suitable for deep facial wrinkles, fine lines and deep folds between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds), along with marionette lines (smile lines) and chin wrinkles. After completion of your treatment course, skin creases, wrinkles, depressions, facial volume and folds are all improved. It is also possible to perform a Sculptra butt lift, to help improve the appearance of the buttocks and give it more shape. The results of Sculptra last for up to two years in most patients. The desired results can be maintained after that with minor touch-up treatments. Because the number of treatments varies on a per patient basis, Sculptra costs are dependent on this. Common side effects tend to relate to the injections themselves. Some individuals experience minor bruising, tenderness and swelling at the injection site.
